Zanotelli Wines

OUR COMPANY

Zanotelli is a family run winery that has worked since 1860 the rugged slopes of Valle di Cembra, where over seven hundred kilometers of dry stone walls support today about 700 hectares of vineyards.
Valle di Cembra is the icon of terraced mountain agriculture, where the cousins Zanotelli sustainably cultivate about 15 hectares of land between 400 and 900 meters a.s.l.. They make wine with passion and competence and follow the distribution of its wines both nationally and internationally. The family Zanotelli historically produced wine Schiava (Vernatsch in German), red grape grown in a massive way throughout the Valle di Cembra since the Napoleonic period. The new skills enabled us to discover the great vocation of this area for white grapes: the extreme temperature changes between day and night, the very good exposure to south-east of the slopes and the terroir porphyritic reflect in wine great aroma and fragrance.

Today the range is made up mostly of white mountain wines: Muller Thurgau, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Kerner, Riesling, Manzoni Bianco. There are also two red goodies wines, Pinot Noir and Lagrein. The range is completed with two sparkling Trentodoc classic method, Brut and Rose’ Forneri and a Passito from white grapes.

TERRITORY

Valle di Cembra is an area of terraced mountain supported by more than seven hundred miles of dry stone walls for a total of about three hundred hectares of crops, a spectacle landscape created by man to smooth inclines and promote agriculture for the livelihood of a rural community. Today endless terraced vineyards located between the 200 and 800 mt. a.s.l. rises above the Avisio stream. These icons of strenuous mountain farming are a real vine garden that obtained the national recognition of “Historical Rural Italian Landscape.

Valle di Cembra has a link with the screw that is lost in the mists of time. This land is the historical cradle of Trentino region viticulture, as evidenced by the discovery of Situla, a Rhaetic vase for wine of pre-Roman period found in Cembra countryside.

His harsh and evocative appearance has inspired many watercolors of the most important interpreter of the German Renaissance, the painter Albrecht Durer. In 1494 he passed through Valle di Cembra during his trip to Italy. We celebrate his passage every year in late May with a cultural trek in the places visited by the master.
